Taxis and airports
Booking a taxi
We recommend the FREENOW or itTaxi apps: you see the estimated fare, pay by card and track the car.
Only use official white taxis. Regular Uber doesn't operate in Rome.
Airports
- Fiumicino (FCO): Leonardo Express train from Termini, about 32 minutes non-stop.
- Ciampino (CIA): shuttle bus from Termini.
Fixed taxi fares to the centre inside the Aurelian Walls: €55 Fiumicino, €40 Ciampino. San Lorenzo is just outside the walls, so the meter may apply (from Fiumicino, capped at €80). Agree the fare before you set off.
Useful numbers and services

- Driving: the historic centre is a limited traffic zone (ZTL). Don't drive in without a permit; fines reach rental cars too.
- Cover shoulders and knees in churches.
